A network of baby banks has launched a Christmas campaign to help families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Little Village, a London-based charity whose baby banks collect and redistribute pre-loved clothes and equipment to families living in poverty, is calling for more donations and pyjamas to meet rising levels of demand for its service.
New data from Little Village shows that two-thirds of families they support are concerned about how they can afford a gift for their children this Christmas, while 68% are worried about putting food on the table.
More than 70% were also worried about being able to afford winter clothing for their children.
Renata Acioli, the manager of Little Village’s three-year-old Brent hub, said: “We have seen the numbers just going up and up every month.
“We are fully booked for family appointments until the end of the year.
“We want to make sure that the families who are struggling can take this heaviness off their shoulders and at least have some basic items for their children.”
