London Art Exchange donates pieces in support of mental health

The London Art Exchange (LAX) donated three pieces of art to Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind (HFEH) to help them support people in west London.

The pieces will be put up for auction and the proceeds will fund HFEH’s frontline services across their area.

HFEH plan on touring the pieces of art around local schools in the tri-borough whilst also setting up creative workshops.

HFEH’s Head of Income Generation Jack Yates said: ”Partnering with such an innovative gallery like LAX means the world to us.

”Not only does it help us reach new audiences, but it also highlights the importance of self-expression and the link between art and mental health.”

The tours will conclude on October 10.

HFEH aims on using the artworks to promote mental wellbeing across the tri-borough.

LAX gifted the charity Jakob The Artist’s ‘Bear Club’ which is made up of two hand sewn plush bears.

Jakob The Artist said: “With my bear series I wanted to do something completely unique and create a standalone piece of hanging art that had sculpture and tapestry influences.

“I wanted this project to be very fun and playful, bringing out that childish side in the viewer, a one of one piece telling its own story never to be replicated the same.”

‘Since You Came Along’ a piece by anonymous artist Mr Phantom was also donated to the charity.

Mr Phantom believes that HFEH’s dedication to helping people with mental health is so important, as he said: “When I heard about LAX’s fresh approach to showing art while supporting artists, I knew I had to jump in.

“Unlike other galleries, LAX mixes artistic vibes with genuine support, creating a unique and safe space for artists.

“Their support has been amazing, and I’m hyped to be part of such a caring and innovative project.”

According to the NHS, one in four Londoners will experience a diagnosable mental health condition showcasing the importance of such donations in making a difference.
