Gordon Reid wants to further cement his place in the pantheon of Wimbledon wheelchair greats ahead of Sunday’s doubles final alongside Alfie Hewett.
The British duo are five-time champions at the All England Club and will do battle with Japanese second seeds Takuya Miki and Tokito Oda.
Scottish star Reid, 32, and Hewett, 26, clinched a hard-fought 6-1 7-6 (12) triumph over Dutch duo Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers to book their place in the final.
And looking ahead to the final, Reid, a record-holding 24-time Grand Slam doubles champion, said: “We’re really excited.
“It’s difficult to think too far ahead but these are the matches and stages we want to be playing on.
“We’re proud of our record here and we want to try and add to it – we’ll be ready on Sunday.”
Reid was knocked out in the first round of the singles as he lost to Argentinian third seed Gustavo Fernandez in straight sets.
But after turning his attention to the doubles, he and Hewett beat singles finalist – against Hewett – Martin de la Puente and Joachim Gerard to book that last four date with Egberink and Scheffers.
And after grinding out a gruelling 14-12 tie-break victory to win that clash, Hewett said: “The resilience we showed in those moments was great.
“We kept backing ourselves and managed to get the win.”
